Overview: Alunbrig is used to treat a certain type of lung cancer. It targets a specific protein to help stop the cancer cells from growing and spreading. Common side effects include diarrhea, tiredness, nausea and vomiting, rash, cough, muscle pain, headache, increased blood pressure, and shortness of breath. Keep all appointments to have your blood checked. Alunbrig may also make your skin sensitive to sunlight. So, you should use sunscreen and wear a hat and clothes that cover your skin if you need to be in the sun. Contact your health care provider right away if you have trouble breathing, dizziness, chest pain, slow heartbeat, vision changes, muscle pain or tenderness, severe pain in the upper part of your belly that travels to your back, yellowing of your skin or eyes, or changes in thirst or appetite. These could be symptoms of a serious side effect.

What is Alunbrig used for?
Alunbrig (brigatinib) is commonly used to treat a certain type of cancer called ALK-positive non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has spread to other parts of the body.
Alunbrig may also be used for other conditions as determined by your health care provider.
How does Alunbrig work (mechanism of action)?
Alunbrig targets a specific abnormal protein called anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) that some cancer cells need to grow and multiply, which helps stop the cancer cells from growing and spreading.

How should I store Alunbrig?
Alunbrig should be stored at room temperature, between 68 F and 77 F (20 C and 25 C). It can be exposed to temperatures between 59 F and 86 F (15 C and 30 C) for shorter periods of time, such as when transporting it. Store in a cool, dry place.
Side Effects
What are the most common side effects of Alunbrig?
The most common side effects of Alunbrig are listed below. Tell your health care provider if you have any of these side effects that bother you.
- Diarrhea
- Tiredness
- Nausea and vomiting
- Rash
- Cough
- Muscle pain
- Headache
- Increased blood pressure (hypertension, see below)
- Shortness of breath

What are the serious side effects of Alunbrig?
While less common, the most serious side effects of Alunbrig are described below, along with what to do if they happen.
Severe Allergic Reactions. Alunbrig may cause allergic reactions, which can be serious. Stop taking Alunbrig and get help right away if you have any of the following symptoms of a serious allergic reaction.
- Breathing problems or wheezing
- Racing heart
- Fever or general ill feeling
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat
- Trouble swallowing or throat tightness
- Itching or skin rash
- Bumps on the skin called hives that can be red, pink, white, or brown, depending on your skin tone
- Nausea or vomiting
- Dizziness, feeling lightheaded, or fainting
- Stomach cramps
- Joint pain
Lung Inflammation. Alunbrig can cause inflammation in your lungs, also called interstitial lung disease or pneumonitis. This can be serious or even life-threatening. Get emergency help if you have new or worsening trouble breathing or shortness of breath. You may also have a cough, fever, or chest pain.
Increased Blood Pressure (Hypertension). Alunbrig may increase your blood pressure or worsen it if you have a history of high blood pressure. Keep all appointments to check your blood pressure. Call your health care provider if your blood pressure increases while taking this medicine.
If you measure your blood pressure and the top number (systolic) is 180 or higher or the bottom number (diastolic) is 120 or higher, get medical attention right away. Increases in blood pressure may not be noticeable, but look out for and tell your health care provider right away if you have any of the following symptoms of severely high blood pressure.
- Sudden severe headache
- Chest pain
- Dizziness or confusion
- Trouble breathing
- Nausea or vomiting
- Blurry or other changes to vision
- Anxiety
- Buzzing in the ears
- Nosebleed
- Feeling of skipped heartbeats
Heart Rate Changes. Alunbrig can make your heart beat slower than normal (bradycardia). Call your health care provider right away if you have any of the following symptoms of bradycardia.
- Feeling lightheaded, dizzy, or fainting
- Confusion
- Feeling weak or easily tired
- Slow heartbeat or feeling of skipped heartbeats
- Chest pain
- Shortness of breath
Vision Changes. Alunbrig can cause vision changes, with symptoms including blurred vision, sensitivity to light, seeing flashes of light, new or increased floaters, and double vision. Tell your health care provider right away if you have any loss of vision or changes in your vision.
Muscle Problems. Alunbrig can cause increased blood levels of creatine phosphokinase (CPK), which is an enzyme normally found in muscles. Increased CPK levels in the blood could indicate muscle damage. Keep all appointments with your health care provider to check your blood tests. Tell your health care provider right away if you have new or worsening muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness.
Inflammation of the Pancreas (Pancreatitis). Alunbrig can cause increased blood levels of amylase and lipase, which could be a sign of pancreatitis. Keep all appointments with your health care provider to check your blood tests. Tell your health care provider right away if you have symptoms of pancreatitis, including vomiting, weight loss, or severe pain in the upper part of your belly that travels to your back.
Liver Problems. Alunbrig can cause increased blood levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and bilirubin. Increased ALT, AST, and bilirubin could be a sign of liver problems. Keep all appointments with your health care provider to check your blood tests. Call your health care provider right away if you have any of the following symptoms of liver problems.
- Nausea or vomiting
- Stomach or belly pain
- Fever
- Weakness or unusual tiredness
- Itching
- Loss of appetite
- Light-colored poop
- Dark-colored urine (pee)
- Your skin or the whites of your eyes turning yellowish in color (also called jaundice)
High Blood Sugar. Alunbrig may increase your blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia). Talk to your health care provider about how to maintain healthy blood sugar levels. Keep all appointments with your health care provider to check your blood tests. Call your health care provider if you have the following symptoms of high blood sugar.
- Feeling thirsty more than usual
- Peeing more than usual
- Increase in hunger
- Tiredness
- Feeling sick to your stomach
- Confusion
- Fruity-smelling breath
Sensitivity to Sunlight. Your skin may be very sensitive to light from the sun and devices that give off similar light, such as sunlamps and tanning beds, while you are taking Alunbrig and for at least five days after your last dose. This is called photosensitivity. Use sunscreen and wear a hat and clothes that cover your skin if you need to be in the sunlight. Exposure to this kind of light, even for a short time, can cause your skin to be severely sunburned, blistered, or swollen. Tell your health care provider right away if any of these happen.

Who should not use Alunbrig?
Allergies to Ingredients. People who are allergic to any of the following should not take Alunbrig.
- Alunbrig
- Brigatinib
- Any of the ingredients in the specific product dispensed

What should I know about Alunbrig before using it?
Do not take Alunbrig unless it has been prescribed to you by a health care provider. Take it as prescribed.
Do not share Alunbrig with other people, even if they have the same condition as you. It may harm them.
Keep Alunbrig out of the reach of children.
Do not chew or crush Alunbrig. Swallow the tablets whole.
You will likely start with a lower dose of Alunbrig for the first several days of treatment. If you tolerate this dose well, your health care provider may increase your dose of Alunbrig. Your health care provider may change your dose, temporarily stop, or permanently stop your treatment with Alunbrig if you have certain side effects.
Alunbrig can make you feel tired. Do not drive or do other activities that require alertness or coordination until you know how Alunbrig affects you.
If you can get pregnant, use effective birth control while taking Alunbrig and for at least 4 months after your last dose. If you can get your partner pregnant, use effective birth control, like condoms with spermicide, while taking Alunbrig and for at least three months after your last dose. Talk to your health care provider about your birth control options. See the Pregnancy section for more details.
Alunbrig may make it hard for you to get your partner pregnant. If you have concerns, talk to your health care provider.
What should I tell my health care provider before using Alunbrig?
Tell your health care provider about all of your health conditions and any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using. This will help them know if Alunbrig is right for you.
In particular, make sure that you discuss any of the following.
Current and Past Health Conditions. Tell your health care provider if you have or have had any of the following.
- Lung or breathing problems
- Blood pressure problems
- Slow heartbeat
- Vision problems
- Pancreatitis
- Liver problems
- Diabetes or high blood sugar
- Kidney problems, including dialysis use
Other Medicines and Supplements. Alunbrig may interact with other medicines and supplements. Before taking Alunbrig, tell your health care provider about any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using. See the Interactions section for more details.
Pregnancy. Alunbrig can cause harm to a fetus. Your health care provider will likely do a test to make sure you are not pregnant before starting Alunbrig. Tell your health care provider right away if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant.
Breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed during treatment with Alunbrig and for one week after your last dose. It is not known if Alunbrig passes into breast milk. Tell your health care provider if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed.

Interactions
Does Alunbrig interact with foods or drinks?
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may increase Alunbrig levels in your body, which can increase the risk of side effects. Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice during treatment with Alunbrig.
There are no known interactions between Alunbrig and alcohol, but heavy drinking can slow your immune response and make it harder for your body to fight cancer.
Does Alunbrig interact with other medicines (drug interactions)?
Always tell your health care provider about any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using.
In particular, make sure that you discuss if you are using any of the following before taking Alunbrig.
- Itraconazole (Sporanox, Tolsura), which is a medicine used to treat fungal infections
- Rifampin (Rifadin), which is a medicine commonly used to treat an infection called tuberculosis
- Any medicine for your heart or blood pressure
Many other medicines may alter the blood levels of Alunbrig. Tell your health care provider about all medicines that you take or have recently taken.

Overdose/Missed Dose
What should I do if I accidentally use too much Alunbrig?
If you or someone else has used too much Alunbrig, get medical help right away, call 911, or contact a Poison Control center at 800-222-1222.
What should I do if I miss a dose of Alunbrig?
If you miss a dose of Alunbrig or throw up (vomit) after taking a dose, do not take the missed dose or an extra dose. Take the next dose of Alunbrig at your regular time.
