Uses

What is Brinsupri used for?

Brinsupri (brensocatib) is commonly used to treat certain people with bronchiectasis that is not from cystic fibrosis

Brinsupri may also be used for other conditions as determined by your health care provider.

How does Brinsupri work (mechanism of action)?

Air moves in and out of your lungs through tubes called bronchi. Bronchi are a part of your respiratory system. Breathing may become hard when these tubes become thickened from repeated inflammation that may be caused by infections.

Brinsupri blocks an enzyme in the body called dipeptidyl peptidase 1 (DPP1). This enzyme normally “switches on” certain proteins in some of your white blood cells, called neutrophils. When these proteins are overactive, they can cause harmful inflammation. By blocking DPP1, Brinsupri seems to help reduce the activity of these proteins, which may lower inflammation.
