Uses

What is Xphozah used for?

Xphozah (tenapanor) is commonly used to lower phosphorus levels in people with chronic kidney disease who are on dialysis. People with chronic kidney disease often develop high levels of phosphorus, also known as hyperphosphatemia. High phosphorus levels can weaken your bones by removing calcium and can cause calcium to build up in your blood vessels, lungs, eyes, and heart. This increases the risk of stroke, heart attack, and death.

Xphozah may also be used for other conditions as determined by your healthcare provider.

Tenapanor can also be used to treat irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C). See Ibsrela (tenapanor) for more information.

How does Xphozah work (mechanism of action)?

Xphozah works by reducing the absorption of phosphate and sodium in the body.
