Uses

What is Lubriderm used for?

Lubriderm is commonly used to help with symptoms of dry skin and to prevent dry skin by adding moisture to it.

Lubriderm may also be used for other conditions as determined by your health care provider.

How does Lubriderm work (mechanism of action)?

Lubriderm products help soothe and protect your skin. They soften and moisturize your skin. The ingredients in most Lubriderm products may include glycerin, mineral oil, or certain vitamins and minerals. Glycerin is a humectant, which draws water to your skin to add moisture. Mineral oil is an emollient. Emollients smooth your skin’s surface and fill gaps and cracks that make your skin feel rough, which creates a softer texture. Emollients also help maintain your skin’s natural protective barrier. Certain Lubriderm products may have other ingredients in addition to or instead of these, such as shea butter. If you have allergies, be sure to read all of the ingredients before picking a specific product.
