Get Ready for Your Appointment
If you’ve been recently diagnosed with RRMS, one of your top questions is probably how fast the disease will progress. I know it was one of mine. Unfortunately, there’s no set-in-stone answer. RRMS affects people so differently. But here are some things to do before you see your doctor.
“Prepare in advance. You may be traveling for several hours to see your RRMS specialist. You want to conserve your energy as much as possible.”
Research your doctor. You’ll want to make sure that they’re a multiple sclerosis (MS) specialist. That means they’re a neurologist whose practice is focused on people with this condition. They usually have better knowledge and access to treatments, including clinical trials.
Learn more about RRMS. There are four types of multiple sclerosis. It’s important that you understand exactly what RRMS is. This will give you a better sense of what to expect with your prognosis. One good place to start is the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. You can also ask your doctor’s office for suggestions.
It’s important to note what symptoms you have and how long they last. It also helps to prepare for doctor visits in advance.
